Worms 2
Developer: Team 17

Remember ’Tanx’ anyone??:

Everybody must have played atleast one game where you tried to use angle and power to hit a target, be it hostile or no. From my mind I remeber around five such version’s of the type. First we have Tanx then comes Gorilla along with Battle and Scorched Earth, and finally Worms. Now Worms was a big hit, no doubt about it, what started as one guys pet project has now become a succesful title. The concept is the same as the other games it’s just Worms had character, something catchy which would stick in your mind. Well there was of course the stupidly addictive gameplay and the masocistic side to it too, which we all know is also what made it so much fun. Well the sequel is out and it’s been improved with new graphics, more speech, more Worms and almost everything can be edited. Although you could edit everthing in the original, it has been made far more user friendly in this one so now it’s never been so easy to customize your Worms world.

BIG bad Worms!!:

The first thing you notice when you first play Worms is the sheer "Fatness" of the Worms. Big and plump, that’s what they are but along with this new found size they have gained alot of new animations including the very cool drowning sequence which has the worms slowly sinking to the depths with bulged eyeballs and blowing bubbles. O.k I know there has been alot of heat over the new look, some hate it, complaining about how the size kills the strategy and that it doesn’t have the same character as before. Others like the new look, they like the new anims, the background effects and the clearness of it all. I personally am torn in both directions, I like the new graphics and anims and backgrounds. I like the whole cartoony look, but the size of the sprites does kill the strategy a bit. I can’t place why really, but there is something about it that makes it not quite as obvious as before or as clean. Before you could do these amazing long distance shots but thanks to the new look, too much scrolling is involved. Another aspect is due to the size, the levels seem to be smaller although they aren’t, the look makes it appear so. It’s really a shame that you can’t get the best out both of them, a zoom mode maybe would do it.
