Tell me what to do:

Included are the usual sound effects with the usual replies following a mouse click, and then there are the annoyance messages like the ones you received in Warcraft 2 when you clicked on a unit too much. They are recorded well and are clear although some irritate especially the Zerg sounds. The music is Continuos and unfortunately, kind of boring, although some are better than others you never enjoy them like the songs in Red Alert or C&C or the brilliant classical atmospheric music in Total Annihilation. As with the graphics each side has their own distinct sound, the Terrans have a radio buzz at the start, the Zerg have Alien animal like squeals and the Protoss have a slightly robotic sound. Otherwise all is well hear with no complaints bar the music.

Now the one player mode in Starcraft has probably the best storyline so far in a game of this type, brilliantly put together by excellent cut-scenes. Each side has thier own story but yet all are linked, first comes the Terran campaign, then the Zerg and finally the Protoss. The missions are supposed to get gradually harder but I actually found the Zerg campaign to be the hardest around the half way point and then it got easier the further you went, but the missions are good so it’s just of no concern. So what do you do when you have finished the one player game. Well there is a skirmish mode just like Warcraft 2, unfortunately the A.I. in this mode is terrible, with the computer doing the same thing as the computer did in Red Alert and it makes it seem unfair when the computer attacks you with twice what you have. Although if you survive the first couple of attacks then the computer is easily beaten. Despite the good points this game has 2 really bad points. First comes the A.I, now as we all know there is nothing more irritating then watching your attacking force wonder off in all directions except where you wanted them to go, and then they also go and get themselves killed in the process.
