The Beginning:
Motorhead is a racing game set in the future, although
despite this the cars do not float above the ground ala Wipeout. Nope the racing is done
with cars which could be described as normal, with wheels and at normal speeds.
Although not that you could tell that when you see the game
moving, the moves along at a blistering pace and it looks lovely too, with lots of fancy
lighting going on here and there.
Revenge of the lens flares:
Yup as mentioned the game looks nice, Although I have heard
some complaints about it being to dark, personally it doesnt bother me so much but
it gets to some. Even though the game is meant for accelerators the game looks lovely in
software and it shows that with a bit of effort games can still run well in software and
look pretty much the same. O.K. I know we are in the times of 3DFX and acceleration means
everything these days but a bit of toneing down needs to be done. For example when you
play with a 3DFX card, every single light you see generates a lens flare, and on just one
straight of any given track there are about 30 so lights in the roof or by the side of a
road, now thats alot of lens flares. In fact that is way to much lens flares, either A:
Your car has very shiny glass or B: Your eyes are very watery, you decide which. Anyway
the game has lots of nice touches graphically with the occasional flying object in the
sky, the road detail is nice and in some places very fitting. The general way they have
drawn the tracks doesnt make you feel as if you are trapped (although you are, it
just doesnt look like you are). The cars are nice too although a little bland, and
very shiny, all the time, even if you have raced 3 laps and smashed into every corner in
the process, still you cant have everything can you.
