Klingon Honour Guard
Microprose
Their second mistake:
If ever there was a game that felt
incomplete it is this one. It feels like a Mod for Quake, a very expensive licensed Mod
but a Mod just the same. I dont know what it is but it seems that all Star Trek
games are cursed to be bad or dull or both. The move to Klingons was a good one because
then we can be violent without worrying about braking some federal code.

One thing I have never liked about the
whole Star Trek universe are the weapons, especially the stupid remote controls, oh
sorry, I meant "Phasers" plus Tri-corders have always been a bit nerdy too. Also
the lack of action in the TV series doesnt help. Just in case you misunderstand, I
am not a Star Trek hater, I like it, I have enjoyed all but one film (the abysmal
"Generations") but this game along with Star fleet Academy have killed my faith
in ever seeing a good Star Trek game. Lets hope the upcoming RTS game can break this
mould. Now what is good, well, it feels very true to the license, with familiar bits
popping up here and there and a couple of the weapons are good. Oh dear that seems to be
it really, ok whats bad. Its slow, more than Unreal; the enemy is suicidal as
they all seem to run straight at you. Its full of enemies, usually around 3-5 at
once but it feels tame, the weapons are pathetic, including the worst rocket launcher in
history. The enemy isnt interesting to look at either and the levels are rather
dull. Worst of all, it feels like a bad version of Unreal with lots of bad elements and
absolutely none of the fixes Unreal has been blessed with now. What this means to you is
you can totally forget multiplayer as it lags MORE than Unreal, that combined with boring
empty levels and you have a dead multiplayer experience with limited appeal.
