Klingon Honour Guard
Microprose

Microprose’s first mistake:

I thought this was supposed to use the Unreal engine, you can’t tell when you look at the graphics, atleast not at first. It looks like Quake 2 at best.

It doesn’t use all the wonderful things Unreal can do; it doesn’t even use the multi texture capability so walls look messy up close. Sometimes you can see examples that it is this engine, some of the special effects are lovely, one room at the start of the game (a large mine shaft) is also a good reminder of what Unreal can do but generally it can’t compare, in some cases even Quake 2 looks better? The levels are detailed enough and feel very Trekkie, but also very small usually.

The enemies are incredibly similar and boring looking though, almost cartoon like. The weapons are laughable at best, anybody who thought that Unreal’s weapons lacked, wait until you see these. The way enemies die sometimes is nice though, yet nerdy (Trekkie maybe?), the first one you will notice is when you use secondary fire with the disrupter pistol, the enemy disappears from the inside-out all in a big red glow. However I feel very disappointed by the general look of the whole thing, it is not what I expected to see.
