Hardwar
The Software Refinery / Gremlin Interactive

The Most annoying game ever:

Why do I say this you may ask yourself, simple, it could have been so much more, if only the company hadn’t doubted themselves so much?

What we have here is a brilliant, captivating game with just not enough in it, if you just happen to start following the storyline you will be drawn in and the next thing you know, the game is over. I made the same mistake in Privateer 2 and therefor hardly played it again so here is my advice to you, sod the storyline as long as possible, only do a couple of missions then wait until you feel like you can’t discover anymore, then follow it.

The whole game is based around trading and killing, you can even buy a place to live in and set it up as a trade shop thereby earning more money

So that you can buy that lovely new ship you’ve had your eye on. This is also the problem, the ships don’t feel different enough and there aren’t enough of them, 20-30 would be nice, hell even over 10 but not 5. The same goes for the area the game covers and the options you have, The Software Refinary should have had more faith in themselves. However after this I hope they make a sequel for this as it could be so much more,

As PC ZONE said "if this were the ground-based engine for a game like Elite, then we’d probably be looking at the ultimate game here" this I totally agree with, if they add more ships and make it last longer it would be the ultimate game. Sadly this isn’t so, if only it were, as it stands though we have a perfectly acceptable game with a wondrous environment which can be like life at times, very unpredictable. The combat takes a while to get used to but this is also a good point, it makes it hard and therefor you strive to survive. This game also has a multiplayer function which is a of yet, untested on my behalf, however upon talking to a few fans of the game they have told me that it is as I expected, excellent but not without faults.
