Bank, roll, spin, crash, die:
The gameplay is all here, Freespace has the
best space battles out of all the games of its type although they arent as
epic as X-wingss huge battles. What makes it fun is that you have to work for the
kill and the
fact that you are so useless
against capital ships, and the storyline which unfolds is a help as are the missions which
are well set up and not too repeative. However the game is too damn short, it took half a
day to go through the whole campaign, and what made it worse is there isnt anymore
for the moment, meaning thats it, one stupidly easy campaign. No matter how well set
up the missions are you cant escape the fact that there are only 36 of them (5 of
them being training). Its nice though that you dont have to complete all of
the tasks set for you, unlike X-wing. Although I would prefer to have a more open
ended campaign with the success of the missions affecting the whole game. And then comes
the all weird last level, it screws with your mind like nothing you could imagine,
but ill save it for you to find out. The gameplay also translates into multiplayer
which is very entertaining and slightly harder than the single player mode but it does
seem to be a bit bugged with lots of strange errors going on every now and then, still fun
though.
