Jane's
Fleet Command - 10/10/99
by:
John Rowe

I despise FMV:

Right at the start you are treated to a dreadful FMV of a bunch of actors posing as Navy officers, you lucky people you. Then they go on and over act badly, and basically you lose the supposed tense situation they are trying to convey. When it comes to the in game sounds, you get lots of radio messages to try and understand (for those of you not up to military lingo), there’s lots of “Bogeys at six o’ clock”, “engaging”, “fox 1” etc and if you don’t know what this means then that bit can seem a little confusing.

Plus there is the nautical terminology for you to contend with too, such as knots, starboard, bow, astern etc that can also lead to confusion if you’re not into it. Basically there is nothing special here, nothing that’ll make you want to crank your volume up, especially not the music.
