Dune 2000
Westwood Studios
Oh no, its that Phrase again:
Yup, its back, seeing as I didnt
like Red Alert very much (due to it being a commercial rip off) I pretty much avoided it,
only returning to it after Aftershock came out, and even then I only played it at
networks. Anyway due to this I managed to erase that certain phrase from memory, but now
its back, and its worse then ever. Silos Needed is now said by 3
different people in game, constantly, I was suddenly reminded how easy it was to get a
hell of alot of money in the original also.
Otherwise the sounds in this game are
Westwoods best attempt yet, your little advisor differs depending on which side you choose
and they inform you of everything, which I thought was very good, they even count down to
the arrival of the Transport at the starport. The music is superb, now if there is one
person at Westwood who deserves a raise its the musician there. I mean C&C had
good tracks, so did Red Alert and now this.
The best bit is if you played the original
youll recognise alot of the songs in their new improved version and probably start
humming along with them. However there is a really annoying problem with the sounds, where
the hell are the explosions. I have tried playing with music off just to see if it was a
channel thing but they simply dont seem to be there. All I get is a quick screen
shake when something goes boom, no sound, Bummer.
