    Admiral Sea Battles
    Meridian 93

No Speakers needed:
At my home I have my PC rigged up to my stereo, which has 300 Watt speakers connected to it. Now when you play games like Unreal and Total Annihilation this boosts the effect of the sound no end making it very atmospheric. Then I stuck this in and what do I hear coming out of my speakers, Blip, Bloop, click, and Whoosh. Now every time you move one of your boats you get this terrible "wind in your sails" sound effect recorded at a very poor quality it seems. This is contemplated by lots of irritating clicks, and it also has the world’s worst midi music. This little irritant has you reaching for the volume controls almost instantly, so there goes the point of sound. So still no good points for this game, making gameplay even more important.

Does it deliver?:
Sorry, no it doesn’t even have the benefit of excellent gameplay, infact it doesn’t even have good gameplay. Although I did try to like it as the idea of naval conflict in the ancient sea’s is a good idea, something which their other game: Ancient Conquests – the Golden Fleece, seems to deliver. Now I played the demo for said game before I played this so when this showed up I was thinking that it would be an earlier version of Ancient Conquest’s. I was yet to learn how much earlier it would seem. Now what the hell was the company thinking, who were they thinking would buy this let alone play it.

It almost seems to be set up as a real time wargame with simple goals, and simple gameplay, it’s just that it isn’t. Just in case you misunderstood, the gameplay isn’t good, it isn’t addictive and it isn’t worth it.
