Interview with Alexander Garden

With all the fuss about Homeworld lately so did we decide that a interview with Alexander Garden over on Relic Entertainment would fit perfectly. We asked him about his past and also a few questions about Homeworld.

CRUS: As many of us haven't heard anything about you could you please describe who you are and what you are up to?

ALEX: My name is Alex Garden and I'm the CEO of Vancouver BC based Relic Entertainment Inc.  Currently, Relic is working on our first title Homeworld.  Homeworld is a new genre, blending elements of Space Combat and Real-Time Strategy.

CRUS: How did you actually get involved. Was it a person or a game that made you start working with Homeworld or was it the same reason that most people have (money) ?

ALEX: I got involved in the gaming industry 9 years ago at the age of 15.  I was lucky enough to meet Don Mattrick who was then the president of Distinctive Software.  Don gave me a job at Distinctive as a game tester.  This gave me an opportunity to meet other people in the
industry (namely Chris Taylor of CaveDog fame) who helped me better my skills.
