The DVD-U01, Pioneer's first DVD-ROM drive,
takes full advantage of DVD's enhanced features, while maintaining compatibility with
current CD-ROM and CD-DA discs.
Recent advances in technology - ranging from a
more accurate laser pickup and advanced circuitry to an improved signal error correction
system - have been combined to enable impressively high data transfer speeds from DVDs
required by today's real-time Multimedia and video applications. The DVD-U01 boasts a
sustained transfer rate of 1.32 MB of data per second from DVD-ROM discs and 1.50 MB/s,
average (10X speed) from CD-ROM discs.
Contributing significantly to the DVD-U01's
overall performance is its power to quickly locate and access specific data areas. The
average random seek and access times to read DVD-ROM discs are an impressive 150 ms and
200 ms, respectively. When scanning conventional CD-ROM discs with their lower data
storage density, the random seek and random access speeds further improve to 120 ms and
150 ms, respectively.
A standard MPC audio connector and headphone
output is provided.
