Toshiba 16X CD-ROM
256kb ATAPI Toshiba announces the introduction of its new 16X MAX CD-ROM drive - the XM-6002B - with ATAPI interface, bringing a new level of CD-ROM drive performance to desk-top computers. With the launch of its 16X MAX CD-ROM drive, Toshiba, a recognized innovator and market leader in CD-ROM drives, is supporting the general market trend for higher rotational speeds and ever increasing data transfer rates. Toshibas new CD-ROM drive owes its excellent performance to Partial-CAV technology, a combination of CLV (Constant Linear Velocity) and CAV (Constant Angular Velocity) technologies. This enhancement not only enables the XM-6002B to achieve a soaring data transfer rate of 2.4MB/s but also an average random seek time of only 90ms and a random access time of a mere 95ms. Technological improvements also cut the average power consumption to only 4.6 W. Accelerated operation of the digital signal processor, improved error correction capabilities, pick-up head and motor add to the high quality of this new CD-ROM drive. As does Toshibas proven performance-enhancing digital servo system and variable speed playback which allows reading to start even before the disc speed reaches any standard rotational rate. |
