SOYO SY-7IZB motherboard
- 21/10/99
by:
Henrik Jersling

Introduction

The AT-boards have almost disappeared from the motherboard market but there are still some left. One of the companies that still have AT boards is SOYO. As I think I said in one of my prior motherboard reviews. I think the reason they keep making boards for the AT-cases, is probably because of the low end users who want to upgrade their computers without having to buy a new case.

A while ago I got my hands on the SY-7IZB motherboard from SOYO. By some reason I didn’t finish the review until now months later. This is an AT-board but it also has an ATX power connector. If you are one of those people who owns an AT-case and are thinking of upgrading you should read this review and if you don’t just read it anyway.

Installation:

My system setup during the test was as follows:
Creative Graphics Blaster Riva TNT AGP
Micronet 10Mbit PCI Network card
Creative Soundblaster 32 PnP ISA
Celeron 366MHz processor
128MB SDRAM noname
Quantum Fireball 3,8GB HD
Philips 12x CD-ROM

I had no problem installing the board I just plugged everything in and turned the power on and it started directly. The installation of windows also went fine, everything was found during the installation and there were no crashes.
