Introduction
I got hold of the P2XBL from DFI. Most of you will remember DFI from the days when they
released their VLSI and VP3 Socket-7 motherboards in 1996 and 1997. I cant say that
I have heard that much about DFI but what I have heard lately is only good stuff. Now I
got a hold of one of their motherboards and I wanted to see what this baby can and
cant do. So lets get on with the review
In the box
The things that you find in the box are:
- P2XBL Motherboard
- The manual that explains everything well.
- 1 IDE cable
- 1 floppy cable
- 1 CD-ROM
- 1 Sticker of settings
- 1 Guarantee card
This is the stuff that you usually get with your motherboard and that is enough. There
is just one thing that I really would have loved and that is an extra IDE cable. But what
the heck, I cant get everything that I want.
Included on the CD is also Hardware Doctor. Hardware Doctor is a program that controls
the temperature of the computer through the Winbond W83977EF chip on the motherboard. It
monitors the CPU and system temperature through thermistors on the motherboard. It also
monitors the different voltages of the computers power supply and the core voltage of the
CPU. This is a very useful tool for providing you with information that could help you
make your system more stable when overclocked (telling you if the CPU needs better cooling
is a good example).
