IWILL LE370 motherboard
Iwill
With the Socket-370 Celeron CPUs that have been released
lately so have the market for the Socket-370 motherboards grown to be one of the really
huge markets for both the overclocker and the normal user that just wants a good and cheap
computer. Iwill have made the choice to go for the 440LX chipset for this motherboard and
that solution has probably been made to drive the price down just a little bit more. Other
manufacturers that try to build a motherboard that is aimed to the overclocking users that
want every bit of performance out of every part of the computer go for but still a low
cost motherboard will go for the ZX solution instead for the 440BX chipset.
The LE370 does also have a sound controller on the board like some other motherboards
have but its not the usual old and crappy integrated sound controller that comes
with most boards. The sound controller on this board is a fully functional 3D Audio
controller based on Aureals Vortex chipset with A3D support. The Aureal Vortex is
the 3D Audio controller that got popular when a batch of A3D supporting games was released
and it has grown since that and its almost a standard in games now.
If Iwill would have included the Vortex2 controller instead
(used in soundcards like the Diamond MX300 and many more) so would there have been A3D 2.0
support on this motherboard. However the most likely reason for not using Vortex 2 on the
LE370 motherboard must be the cost but the use of the Vortex chipset is still much better
then the usual crappy integrated no name audio controllers.
