The Anir Multimedia Magic
Animax

Have you ever felt the need of controlling your computer from a distance, let’s say your sitting in your sofa a couple of feet from your precious computer and you just had to check out some webpage but you don't feel like standing up and walking those few feet to your rig?

No? Didn’t think so either.

Well, let’s try a different scenario:
Your computer is equipped with a video in card, TV card and a radio card and everything is hooked up to your hi-fi and TV. And you feel like listening to some music. That’s when the Anir Multimedia magic remote control comes in handy. But, because none of the computers at Computers R Us are equipped with either TV or Radio cards, I had to test the remote with just the programs provided and the hardware I had available.

I’ll start right away with writing about the installation:
AnimaxTo make the Anir remote work you got to connect a small receiver (really cool looking, looks like a 2" monitor) to one of you serial ports. This receiver isn’t detected by Windows 95/98 since it isn’t plug n play, but this isn’t really a problem since all you gotto do is to pop in the CD and double click on the install program on the provided drivers CD (or download newer drivers from the Anir site http://www.animax.no as I did). It was after the driver installation that I encountered the first problem with the remote.

I, as most of you, have a PS/2 mouse and not a serial mouse. But the manual or readme file says nothing about how to set up the remote on other ways than connecting a serial mouse to the receiver connector.
