To complement VSA™ and the integrated features, Cyrix developed three exclusive processor technologies that manage the multimedia and system functions of the MediaGX™ processor — XpressRAM™, XpressGRAPHICS™, and XpressAUDIO™.

XpressRAM™.
With XpressRAM™ technology, the MediaGX™ processor avoids the delays of data moving between the external cache and main memory. By placing the memory controller onto the chip, data lookups move directly to SDRAM and back to the CPU, eliminating the need for external cache.

Benefit: XpressRAM™ ensures maximum memory performance: Software applications process just as fast as they do on more traditional PC systems that cost more, and benefit from the latest in memory technology -- SDRAM.

XpressGRAPHICS™.
The XpressGRAPHICS™ feature eliminates the need for a graphics card. In a traditional PC, graphics are processed away from the main CPU through the slower PCI bus. But now, with the graphics controller and accelerator moved onto the MediaGX™ processor, graphics process at the full megahertz speed of the CPU.

But there's more. An innovative graphics compression scheme with high-speed buffering allows flexibility in memory configuration without adding costly video memory. Just select the monitor resolution through Windows and the MediaGX™ processor will automatically configure the rest -- up to 1280x1024 resolution and 24 bits per pixel to support the most demanding multimedia applications.

Benefit: With XpressGRAPHICS™, there’s no need to worry about having enough video memory -- the MediaGX™ processor adjusts itself for the resolution you choose. This means that graphics power will be there to run all your MMX applications as well as other educational, business and game software -- without the purchase of additional video RAM.

XpressAUDIO™.
XpressAUDIO™ technology takes over the operations of a separate sound card. Compatible with industry-standard sound cards, it generates all sound directly from the processor set to deliver high-fidelity, true-to-life audio performance.

Benefit: he XpressAUDIO™ feature ensures clear, crisp, full-sounding acoustics without the performance and compatibility conflicts that often occur between audio and other components.
